This time, D'Vlog episode 261. #DimasPNugraha #KAMatarmajaNewGeneration #naikkeretaapi #KAMatarmaja After a long wait and hundreds of full moons, this train has finally been upgraded, reverting to commercial economy class status, but still using the 106-seat Economy class, which is characterized by upright, face-to-face seating, a hallmark of subsidized trains. This time, I had the opportunity to ride the MATARMAJA train. On September 28, 2025, coinciding with KAI's 80th anniversary, the comfort level of its Economy Class was upgraded to the New Generation Economy class, a modified version of the Manggarai Balai Yasa model. This train runs from Malang Station to Pasar Senen Station in Jakarta, round-trip. The route passes through central Java, stopping in several areas such as Blitar, Kediri, Tulungagung, Madiun, Solo, Semarang, Pekalongan, Tegal, and Cirebon, ending at Pasar Senen Station. However, the travel time from Malang to Jakarta and vice versa is longer than the MAJAPAHIT train, which also uses the latest version of the New Generation Economy Class fleet manufactured by PT INKA Madiun. While the MAJAPAHIT train takes an average of 13 hours, the MATARMAJA train still takes a full trip of 15.5 hours. However, for those who enjoy sunny travel, the MATARMAJA train is perfect, as you'll be treated to views of rice paddies, fields, mountains, and even the northern coast of Java.
