The Hijri Calendar and the Month of Muharram (Nasir Ahmad Arif)

In this monthly lecture we gather around the end of one Islamic year and the beginning of another. Imam Nasir Ahmad Arif reminds us what the Hijri calendar actually is, why the Prophet's (peace be upon him) migration from Mecca to Medina became the foundation of our timekeeping, and what hijra is really about – leaving something behind and moving toward something better. We too can make a hijra: from bad habits, from company that pulls us down, from a life where time and health are taken for granted.
