Serres - Bougatsa, Byzantines, & Mosque Concert in Greece

In this short episode (I had no space left on my mobile phone), we explore Serres, Greece, a crossroads of empires where Byzantine walls & Ottoman mosques meet. We start with bougatsa, the flaky pastry that Serres is famous for, then step into the city’s layered past: the Zincirli Mosque inspired by the Mimar Sinan school, the Bezesten market hall, and the ruins of the Ahmet Pasha mosque, the Byzantine Old Metropolis dating to 1124 and, finally, we climb to the Koulas Fortress, overlooking the whole town at sunset, to see Serres as the empires once did.
