3 Days in America's Newest National Park - New River Gorge (and You Don't Have to Hike)

Here's the thing -- you don't need a week. You don't even need to hike if that's not where you're at right now. We did 3 days and saw SO much of it from overlooks and drives alone. Day 1 -- trails right at the Canyon Rim Visitors Center. Doable, beautiful, worth it. Day 2 -- overlanding through Historic Thurmond and down McKendree Road. Lunch at Army Camp. Stopped at Concho Overlook. Felt like we had the whole park to ourselves. Day 3 -- Grandview Overlook, Turkey Spur, Sandstone Falls. Then 4 hours home to Asheville. We stayed at a HipCamp 5 minutes from the Canyon Rim Visitors Center and it was genuinely the perfect base camp. The rangers even told us the one thing they'd add next time -- Fayette Station Road. Already on the list. If you've been waiting for a sign to go -- this is it. A long weekend. A national park. Epic views that don't require epic effort. The outdoors is for you. Even on a hard week. Even right now. Drop a 🌿 if you want to see more itineraries like this!
