For this Kia Sportage test, we've chosen the biggest new model since the facelift: the mild hybrid variant with a 185 hp diesel engine. The fourth and current generation of the Kia Sportage arrived at dealerships in early 2016. At the end of 2018, Kia's best-selling model in Spain received an update that improved the exterior design, enhanced interior quality, and increased the technological stack with new equipment options. In addition, the engine range was revised, and the Mild Hybrid variant was introduced, positioning itself as the top-of-the-range version. This version of the new Sportage is available with a six-speed manual transmission or an eight-speed torque converter automatic transmission, which can also be operated sequentially via the gearshift lever or paddle shifters on the steering wheel. As for traction, it's exclusively paired with a 4x4 system with variable torque distribution that's capable of sending 50% of the torque to each axle. With a starting price exceeding €35,000, the 185-hp Kia Sportage 2.0 CRDi Mild Hybrid is only available in the top-of-the-range GT Line trim. Therefore, it features several exclusive aesthetic details and a fairly generous standard equipment package that includes, among other things: LED headlights, 19-inch alloy wheels, a sunroof, mixed fabric and leather upholstery, a navigation system with an 8-inch screen, a JBL sound system with 8 speakers, and more.
