GWAC Colloquium for PhD sur place 2026

The German-West African Centre for Global Health and Pandemic Prevention (G-WAC) successfully held its 2026 Interdisciplinary Colloquium for SUR-PLACE PhD students at the Medical Enclave of Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), as part of the 3rd Biennial Postgraduate Conference of the College of Health Sciences. The colloquium serves as a vital academic platform where newly enrolled doctoral candidates present their research proposals and receive constructive interdisciplinary feedback from supervisors and fellow researchers. Continuing students also use the forum to share updates on their research progress, present key findings, and outline their plans toward thesis completion. A total of 11 doctoral students were scheduled to present their work, covering critical public health areas such as antimicrobial resistance, zoonotic disease transmission, viral surveillance, health systems strengthening, digital health, pandemic preparedness, malaria control, and health security governance. The presentations underscored the breadth and relevance of G-WAC's research agenda and its commitment to addressing pressing health challenges in West Africa through innovative, collaborative, and multidisciplinary approaches. The colloquium further fostered scholarly exchange, peer learning, and mentorship, reinforcing G-WAC's mission to build the next generation of researchers and leaders equipped to advance global health and strengthen pandemic preparedness across the region.
