The Excelsior-Class: Backbone of Starfleet
First appearing in Star Trek III: The Search for Spock, the USS Excelsior was the cutting edge of Starfleet ship design in the late 23rd Century. The versatile Excelsior-class would go on to be built in large numbers (including the Enterprise-B) by the Federation, forming the backbone of the fleet during much of the 24th Century--even after the introduction of more advanced starship classes. In this video, we document the many appearances of the Excelsior-class, including the Excelsior-variant designs from Picard and Lower Decks. Note: Many appearances of the Excelsior-class in TNG and DS9 consisted entirely of reused shots, so some of these scenes have been omitted to avoid too much repetition.
