Real Ghost Story: Living With The Ghost Cat Lady

Anna is calling from work on her lunch break. She can't call from home — because the ghost there doesn't like to be talked about. When they acknowledge her presence, things go missing the next day. Keys. Car keys. A packed lunch. Disappear without a trace. So Anna and her boyfriend have learned to keep quiet when the room fills with the scent of lilac. The house belonged to an elderly woman who passed away in her sleep. She had no children. She had cats. And apparently, she never really left. When the lilac smell appears, the family cat Smokey gets up and walks to the doorframe between the hallway and the living room — and circles it exactly like he's rubbing up against someone's legs, purring loudly. A special needs cat named Diamond sits on the arm of the chair and dips her head rhythmically, like someone is scratching behind her ears. Nothing is there. But the motion is unmistakable. The ghost doesn't interact with the baby. She doesn't acknowledge him at all. She's there for the cats. When Anna desperately needed her ID for work and couldn't find it, she tried something different — quietly asked the ghost if she knew where it was, without making a big deal of it. She walked back into the kitchen. It was sitting on the table. Carol, Todd and Lisa break it down — and Carol declares this is exactly the kind of ghost she'd want. Loves animals, helps when asked, just doesn't want to be gossiped about. Honestly, fair enough. For more REAL ghost stories from REAL people...
