KING KHALID IN LONDON - 1981

(9 Jun 1981) STORY A documentary film on the King of Saudi Arabia King Khalid bin Abdul Aziz's visit to London. Khalid, joined by the Saudi Arabian Minister of Defense and Aviation Prince Sultan bin Abdul-Aziz Al Saud, arrived at Heathrow Airport where he was greeted by Prince Edward, Duke of Kent. He then made his way to Victoria Palace where he met Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Phillip. He was introduced to the British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher, Deputy Prime Minister William Whitelaw, the Commissioner of the Metropolitan Police Sir David McNee, and the Lord Mayor of Westminster Councilor Harley. Khalid and Elizabeth then made their way to Buckingham Palace by carriage. A banquet was held at Buckingham Palace to mark Khaled's visit. The guests included the Archbishop of Canterbury Robert Runcie, Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother, Prince Charles, and Prince Charles's€™ fiancé© Diana Spencer. On the second day of the visit, Khalid went to St James' Palace where he met high commissioners and ambassadors from several Commonwealth countries. After this, he met Thatcher at Downing Street and attended a reception at the Dorchester Hotel. Commentary in English throughout.
