Hollywood's Ugly Obsession With Remakes (And When They ACTUALLY Work)
Recently, it was rumored that the classic 1994 film The Shawnshank Redemption is getting a remake, due to Stephen King getting the film rights back from Warner Bros. In a similar vein, it was recently confirmed that Alfred Hitchcock's Vertigo is getting a remake starring Robert Downey Jr. These alone would be AWFUL ideas, but Hollywood has so many absymal remakes overall, from Disney live action remakes like Lilo & Stitch to DreamWorks doing the same thing now with How to Train Your Dragon. Today, I wanna discuss why these remakes almost always miss the mark, but also when they CAN be good, since there are a few remakes that do things RIGHT.
