Polish WW2 Refugees In Iran, 1942 (Film Excerpt)

It's one of WW2's least remembered - and most fascinating - stories. Between spring 1942 and winter 1943, 118,000 Polish citizens were evacuated from the Soviet Union to Iran - 76,000 soldiers, and 42,000 refugees. They were the survivors from among nearly 1 million Poles sent from Soviet-occupied Poland to prisons and forced labour camps at the start of World War Two. 20,000 of these survivors would eventually go on to live in refugee camps across East Africa.
