A royal car arrives to Aintree. King George VI (former Prince Albert, Duke of York) and Queen Elizabeth (former Duchess of York. later Queen Mother) leave the car and are greeted by Lord Derby. Various shots of the horses parading in paddock. More shots of the crowds, bookies, jockey board before the Grand National horse race. Horses at the start, tapes go up and they are off. Various shots of the race. Many horses and jockeys fall on different jumps, not many remain until the end of the race. Several nice slow motion shots of the horses going over jumps.
