We made American-style smoked bacon completely from scratch… and honestly, we weren’t ready for this 🇺🇸🥓 From a simple slab of pork belly to homemade smoked bacon cured, smoked and sliced in our own backyard, this turned into one of the most satisfying cooks we’ve ever done. We cured this pork belly for nearly 2 weeks, fired up the Franklin Offset Smoker, used cherry wood for the first time, and discovered a flavour that completely surprised us. As a British family, we’ve always known bacon differently. In the UK we often grow up with unsmoked bacon, but in America smoked streaky bacon is a whole different experience. So the big question was… Would homemade American-style smoked bacon actually beat what we buy in the UK?
