Holloway, McGregor faceoff for the final time ahead of UFC 329

Max Holloway and Conor McGregor are officially set for their long-awaited rematch after both fighters made weight Friday morning ahead of the UFC 329 main event at T-Mobile Arena. Holloway, fighting at welterweight for the first time in his UFC career, weighed in at 170 pounds for Saturday night’s bout. McGregor also successfully hit the contracted weight, clearing the final hurdle before their showdown, which comes 13 years after their first meeting. Following the official weigh-ins, both future Hall of Famers returned to T-Mobile Arena for the ceremonial weigh-ins in front of thousands of fans. The atmosphere remained tense after an emotional faceoff, continuing the animosity that has built throughout fight week. Speaking to the crowd during the ceremony, Holloway expressed confidence ahead of the rematch. “I’m too ferocious and relentless. If this guy’s a missile, I’m the nuke. I see you guys tomorrow night, baby.” McGregor, making his highly anticipated return, thanked the fans before promising an entertaining main event. “It’s great to be back. Thank you to all the fans here in attendance. I hope you’re all ready for a blockbuster event tomorrow night. The Mac is bringing it.” Hawaiʻi will also be represented on the preliminary card as Pearl City native and Kamehameha Schools graduate Kai Kamaka III and England’s Luke Riley both successfully made weight at 145 pounds for their featherweight bout. Kamaka and Riley are scheduled to fight on the preliminary card beginning at 1 p.m. HST on Saturday. Holloway and McGregor are expected to headline the main card, which begins at 3 p.m. HST. UFC President Dana White has called UFC 329 the biggest gate in the promotion’s history, with average resale ticket prices reportedly reaching approximately $11,000. The Holloway-McGregor rematch headlines International Fight Week and marks one of the most anticipated bouts of the year as Holloway looks to avenge the lone loss he suffered to McGregor early in his UFC career.
