After modifying and issuing its first run of Rolex-built combat divers from 1936-1938, Panerai began to exert more direct control on the design process for the second iteration of the famous Panerai 3646. In December 1941, Decima combat swimmers using the S.L.C. took out three Royal Navy warships - including two battleships. All Italian Navy personnel were equipped with Panerai watches closely resembling the PAM 425.
