Senki - Reflections on the martial arts- is a martial arts series which will feature and focus on various aspects and topics related to martial arts practices and their related cultures and expressions. Zhao Dayuan (趙大元) was born in 1944 and is one of the eight original disciples of the third generation Bagua Zhang inheritor, Li Ziming (李子鳴). He is extremely proficient in the practice and application of Liang style Bagua Zhang. He served as the head martial arts instructor at the Beijing Police Academy. Now retired, Zhao Dayuan focuses his energy on handing down the essence of the functional application of Liang style Bagua Zhang to the next generation, knowledge that is quickly disappearing in today’s world. Here, Zhao Dayuan recollects his martial arts history and discusses Liang style Bagua Zhang as well as its ultimate value.
