Wayne WaterBug water pump review and tips

Buy the Wayne WaterBug 1/6 HP 1350 GPH water pump on Amazon here: https://amzn.to/2ZIaFry This pump can be fully submerged. It has the option of top and side discharge and connects to a standard garden hose. The pump does NOT have a float switch (although there IS a version of it that does) and you should not let the pump run dry per manufacturer's directions. I tried to empty my water-filled shop vac with this pump once. Since I had vacuumed wet carpet, there was lots of cat hair in the shop vac water. The pump got the job done but then had quite a bit of cat hair caught in the screen on the bottom of the pump. I would not recommend it for this purpose. It is however easy to clean and service the impeller. Based on my use of this pump for 1 week, I would recommend it as a buy for the type of application I was using it for (keeping a basement floor relatively dry during flood conditions). Since there is no automatic float switch, I would recommend the use of an automatic timer to control the on/off of the pump so that it does not run dry.
