Why You Can't Really Compare Amps and Modelers

Intro narration: 0:00 "Amp in the room" 1:05 Impact of listening position: 1:31 Recorded amp sound: 2:13 Concluding thoughts: 2:44 This is something that comes up time and time again when discussing this, and as someone who loves tube amps, I think asking "how much does it sound like the real thing" does modelers (which have gotten awfully good) a disservice. Maybe this is an obvious point, maybe it isn't, but if you've spent a lot of time with a particular amp and then plug into a VST/IR version of it, or if you know the modeled version very well and then get a chance to plug into the real thing and wail, you're going to be very dissappointed. Modelers don't try to sound like amps, they try to sound like recordings of amps, so comparing them isn't apples to apples, it's apples to apple pie. #homerecording #guitaramp #ampmodeler #speakerIR #ampvsmodeler #tubeamp #mesaboogie #halfstack #suhrmodern
