Trying New Things as an Autism Family | Quiet Moments at Home

This week we’re trying new things together. 🌿🩷 While William enjoys time with his short break carer, it gives us something we don’t often have as a family – a little more time to slow down. As full-time carers, and with a wonderful young carer in our daughter, these hours are precious. They give us the chance to sit down for a meal, join in activities and workshops, take our time and make memories together in a way that isn’t always possible in our everyday life. Even while we’re out, William is never far from our thoughts. Every new place makes us wonder, “Would William enjoy this? How could we adapt this experience for him?” Although this was our first visit, we were already thinking about returning one day and sharing it with him too. Life looks a little different for our family, but we’re learning to hold both things at once – appreciating these quiet moments together while always carrying William with us in our hearts.
