🗿 🗿 ✈️✈️Historic Park of Geoje POW Camp✈️✈️🗿🗿 #거제도_포로수용소 #korean_travel #거제여행 My Friends and I visited this former POW Camp and really enjoyed it. 😊🔥✔️ 🔫Very Dramatised View of the Fate of the POWs in the Korean War🔫 The park gives a very short overview of the Korean War, which will only be of interest if you have not heard of that conflict before, and then moves on to show the life of the 173,000 North Korean and Chinese POWs held at this location from 1951 to about 1953 in detail and depth. While I consider myself reasonably aware of the Korean War, I had previously heard nothing about the fate of the POWs, their life in camp, their exposure to propaganda and counter-propaganda, finally leading to deadly riots. As such, it was a very interesting and informative visit. You have to be aware however that the unique Asian way of presenting historical facts is hard to describe to Europeans. Essentially, all exhibits are very vivid and dramatic, and the emphasis is on expressing feelings rather than strict historical accuracy. To Europeans, this may leave a bit of a stale aftertaste, as the presentation ― which I assume to be historically correct ― does however sometimes feel a bit like propaganda for those of us not used to this presentation style. ❤Good experience!❤ Very beautiful place to visit, is good to learn a little bit more about Korean War and POW Camp. Is not expensive and you can go with you complete family.
