People began consuming news and entertainment online, while magazine sales and print advertising declined year after year. The company tried to adapt, but faced difficulties. Between 2010 and 2017: Magazines' share of advertising fell drastically. Newsstands decreased. Subscriptions and single-issue sales plummeted. 💥 Judicial Reorganization In August 2018, with approximately R$ 1.6 billion in debt, Abril filed for judicial reorganization. Before that, it had made hundreds of layoffs and closed several traditional magazines. Many people at the time called this "bankruptcy," but technically it wasn't bankruptcy. The company requested judicial protection to renegotiate its debts and continue operating.
