Climbing and Photographing The New York Times Tower? (354 meters)

In June of 2021 my New York Times article quite possibly saved my life and helped the world look at my work in a new light. I wanted to challenge the concept that what is illegal is also immoral. I argued that the two aren’t the same. Since then, I have looked longingly at the New York Times Tower as a dream climb, perfectly located with midtown and the Empire State in the background. The aim was to capture the insignificance of man in the shadow of an ever expansive city and world while also showing that man himself is limitless. If God is a circle, man is one too. What is without is also within, we exist simultaneously as a fraction and the whole all at once. Therein lies the beauty of ascending such a structure and the art created in the process. Toeing death’s fine line 1162 feet above earth’s surface we find eyes wide with wonder, our fragility on a hauntingly beautiful display. This artistic film was shot alongside the incredible duo from OnTheRoofs- Raskalov and EM.1T.
