Progressive Muscle Relaxation for Pain, Stress, and Fatigue
The following practice is a guided progressive muscle relaxation practice, or PMR. In the yoga traditions, PMR has been used for thousands of years as yoga nidra or guided relaxation practices for therapeutic benefits of the body and the mind. In today’s relaxation practice, you will be guided through an entire body scan, where you will be instructed to consciously tense and relax muscles of the body. The purpose of this practice is to become more attuned to the tension, and consequently, the relaxation of your muscles, tissues, and even mind. Through practice, you will ultimately be able to identify when tension is arising in the body, and be able to mitigate downstream effects of pain, fatigue, and flares by consciously relaxing these areas of tension.
