Fly Tying the Mahoney Spey Fly for Steelhead
Although not a traditional Spey fly the Mahoney fits into the Syd Glasso style of modern spey flies with its hackle tip feather wing and long flowing hackle. Originated by Dec Hogan in the 90's it remains an excellent fly for Steelhead on the Bulkley River in Smithers. Here we tie it in blue but the original is tied in red.
