Why cocoa farmers don't profit from record prices for chocolate | DW News
The price of chocolate has significantly increased. And although there are hopes for a bumper cocoa crop this year, the farmers in Cote d'Ivoire have not always profited from the trade, despite higher shop prices. Cote d'Ivoire has set a record cocoa price of €4.26 ($4.92) per kilo, aiming to boost farmer incomes in the world's top cocoa-producing nation. Farmers like Koffi Albert hope the increase will help cover costs and keep children in school, after years of low profits and climate-related challenges. Despite rising chocolate prices globally, growers still earn only a fraction of the final product's value, sparking debate over price regulation. #ivorycoast #cocoa #business For more news go to: http://www.dw.com/en/ Follow DW on social media: ►Instagram: / dwnews ►TikTok: / dwnews ►Facebook: / deutschewellenews ►Twitter: / dwnews Für Videos in deutscher Sprache besuchen Sie: / dwdeutsch Subscribe: https://www.youtube.com/user/deutsche...
