EQUITAZIONE: COME RICHIEDERE LA FLESSIONE AL CAVALLO

How do I get a horse to flex his poll? How can I get a horse to yield his poll? And then how do I maintain the flexion... these are the questions that led to today's video. First of all, there's a confusion between "yielding his poll" and "flexing his poll." They're two different things. "Yielding" has to do with looseness, relaxation, and a free jaw. The horse relaxes and chews and yields with his poll, lowering his head slightly. The second is the "anterior flexion." This also occurs at the nape of the neck (see the post on the different types of flexion on the blog www.addestramentocavallosportivo.it), but it involves a slight "turning of the head" inward. The ears remain at the same height. If the horse tilts its neck and the ears are no longer even, this is not good. This would be the result of a tight jaw that doesn't allow the horse to "yield" properly. The horse escapes the rider's hand and bends its neck to the side. Returning to the previous discussion, how do you ask for flexion and how do you ask for yield, and what changes in terms of work? Once I've achieved what I need, how can I maintain it without losing it? In the video, I try to clarify these things with some examples. Furthermore, at the bottom of the video, I've included some images to carefully observe, to understand the most common errors. Speaking of flexion, we can't help but mention longitudinal flexion (of the "rib"). The horse must learn to flex. around the rider's inside leg. All flexions arise from the action of the leg. Another thing to understand is the function of external aids (which contain and regulate the degree of flexion). I will definitely make more videos discussing similar concepts... So if you have any questions or problems regarding flexions, let me know by commenting on the video 😊 (I'll try to respond as soon as possible!) Thanks 🙏🏼 Hugs, Daniela
