Humble Beginnings to Teacher Leadership: Paul Naigo’s Fight for Teacher Autonomy.

In this deeply inspiring episode, I sit down with Paul Naigo to uncover the powerful story behind the man championing teacher autonomy in Uganda today. Paul’s journey began with loss—after the death of his father, a Good Samaritan stepped in and changed the trajectory of his life, sending him to teacher training college right after S.4. From navigating the harsh realities of delayed and unpaid teaching salaries to eventually finding his footing at Watoto, Paul’s passion for teaching steadily grew into a calling for leadership and teacher development. But one defining moment changed everything—watching a teacher who looked like him, capable yet lacking confidence, sparked his passion to advocate for teacher autonomy. Today, Paul strongly believes that teachers should be trusted to do their work, supervised by fellow educators who truly understand the classroom. He now leads efforts through Edagogy Uganda, continuing to empower teachers to find their voice, confidence, and professional respect. This episode is not just about teacher autonomy—it’s about resilience, mentorship, faithfulness in small beginnings, and the power of believing in teachers. If you are a teacher, school leader, or education enthusiast, this conversation will both challenge and inspire you.
