Carlo Rovelli | Also on Everett's shoulders: Relational Quantum Mechanics
Abstract: Relational quantum mechanics is one of the branches of Everett's legacy. It builds on Everett's fundamental intuition about the relative nature of the actual quantum states we use when we use quantum mechanics. It discards the idea of interpreting the wave function realistically, and is based on an ontology of systems having only relational properties at interactions. About the speaker: Carlo Rovelli is a theoretical physicist and Professor at Aix-Marseille University. He is well-known for his contributions to loop quantum gravity and for introducing the relational interpretation of quantum mechanics.
