OutdoorExtreme tackles the Devil's Causeway day hike in the Flat tops wilderness by Yampa, CO, near Steamboat Springs, about 3 hrs from Denver. This crazy, exhilarating, and adventurous trek starts off the north end of the Stillwater reservoir and can be done as a steeper 3 mile hike to the top or by taking the larger and less gradual loop of 10.6 miles. The trail starts out at an altitude of a little over 10,000 ft and summits at 11,800. Once you make it to the top, you need to muster up the courage to cross the death defying cliffs of this natural land bridge which narrows to 3 ft wide and drops on either side 60-80 feet with steep talus slopes dropping 600-800 feet further. It is not for the faint of heart and is one of the coolest panoramas.
