The Eagle Scout Who Did Just the Minimum

A scout, especially an Eagle Scout is missing out on the promise of leadership if they do just the minimum. ScouterStan experience this first hand. By the time he was aware of it, it was too late to help. It became a real struggle to expect something more from a Scout who would only do the minimum. What can we do… it's quite clear that the requirements should be followed as written. We would like to think that Eagle Scouts would show initiative and do more than just the minimum requirements. This is also an underlying issue with Scout Spirit. This can be very interpretive and nebulous by design. As Scouters, we know it when we see it. But it's never really been defined more than taking the Scout Oath and Law to heart. It's difficult to define but you can do it to the minimum required. Almost like “going through the motions” but does not really mean anything and is hollow. ⚠ Note: This video is based on a real experience and situation.
