The ban on Euro 5 diesel vehicles will be in effect on September 15, 2023, but by joining the "Move In Piemonte" platform, you will be able to drive a limited number of kilometers. Here's how it works. Each vehicle is assigned a maximum number of kilometers it can drive annually throughout the municipalities participating in the initiative, excluding periods when temporary measures are in effect. The black box installed on the vehicle calculates the kilometers traveled on all types of roads, 24 hours a day, every day of the year. Once the assigned maximum mileage limit is reached, the vehicle will no longer be allowed to drive in restricted areas until the end of the year of membership. You can always check your remaining kilometers via the app or website. In the event of a roadside check, the municipal police can verify whether or not you have exceeded the mileage limit using a specific app. To join, you must register in the Piedmont Region section of the Move-IN Lombardia portal, using the Public Digital Identity System (SPID) or the National Services Card (CNS). The service costs a maximum of €50 for the first year of membership (€30 for the installation of the black box and €20 for the annual service) and a maximum of €20 for the annual service for each subsequent year.
