Dear friends of watchmaking, in this episode, we're going into my little workshop for the first time. For a lovely customer, I repaired her father's old Junghans Bivox alarm clock. The video is quite long; I spent about 13 hours working on the clock. Now this family heirloom can once again serve its purpose for the lady's daughter. Attention: I made a mistake at minute 29:45! The gear is, of course, not the seconds wheel, but the escape wheel. It was simply too late that evening. :-) The gap is included during the installation of the spring and the alarm mechanism. This was the moment when I really cursed, as the new spring that was delivered was too weak. The alarm mechanism essentially consists of only two wheels between the plates and the alarm setting wheel on the hands. When this wheel can slide forward to a certain position, a locking spring is released, and the alarm can ring. The springs are either re-threaded, and the loop is guided past a certain position so that it can later lock onto a pillar. With old springs, you need a little more patience and may need to wind them together beforehand with a wire ring. I hope you enjoy watching.
