Why A Silk Test Is Most Important: Reviewing An Identical Copy of The Kabah Kiswa Makkah

This kiswa was offered to us for sale. We took the chance and purchased it. The design was perfect The finished edges were similar to the original The flame test appeared to be silk When we received it, we noticed the weight was heavier than normal (silk is lighter than cotton) The edges were stitched back. (Usually they are opened up to disjoin kiswa) The flame test was cotton, not silk. It has been confirmed as a replica/ fake. Conclusion: A very advanced kiswa piece. Meets every criteria except for Silk. This is a late Saudi design (around the year 2000) and silk has always been used. Be careful what you buy no matter how good it looks, a silk test is the most important test!
