Cox Tee Dee .020 (Part 3)
I wanted to further improve the performance of the Cox TD .020 engine, so I set myself the challenge of creating a crankcase bushing and improving crankshaft friction. Here's what I did: 1) I fabricated a bronze alloy bushing. 2) I fabricated an aluminum alloy backplate. 3) I installed anti-friction washers on the crankshaft. Everything worked perfectly. By the way, the bronze alloy bushing measures 5.51 mm in inner diameter and 6 mm in outer diameter; it's a very thin piece, with a wall thickness of only 0.25 mm. It was a risky bet; if anything went wrong, the crankcase would be unusable. Everything worked correctly, and now the engine reaches higher RPMs. 1) 15,500 RPM (original condition) 2) 16,400 RPM (squeegees added and crankcase bushing polished) 3) 17,500 RPM (changed to a hard gray 4-1/2 x 2 Cox propeller) 4) 18,600 RPM (the backplate was changed and a bronze alloy bushing was manufactured) ************************************************************* Quería mejorar aún más el rendimiento del motor Cox TD .020, así que me propuse el reto de crear un casquillo para el cárter y mejorar la fricción del cigüeñal.
