Meet Pedro, a dog handler from Portugal

Meet Pedro, a dog handler from Portugal on a mission in Spain, and Duke, a Belgian Malinois. Pedro has served in the Portuguese navy and police. With Frontex, he helps check trucks that cross the Strait of Gibraltar by ferry. “Until now, I’ve worked with four different dogs. Duke, in particular, is very easy to work with. He’s the kind of colleague that you would like to have by your side all the time because he never has problems, he’s always happy and he also has very good skills. As dog handlers, we usually work with a dog until its retirement. When the dog retires, we are allowed to take it home with us. And this is what I want to do with Duke.”
