This video introduces the commander controls, including the touchpad, that are only available on the 7th generation Mazda Connect system. In a previous video, I discussed the operation of the Mazda Connect commander switch, and while the 7th generation vehicles have largely the same controls, the 7th generation Mazda Connect system includes some features that are not available on the 6th generation CX-8, for example. March 2026 Update The touchpad on the commander knob is no longer usable on the CX-30, MAZDA3, and other models that support touchscreens via Apple CarPlay (although the touchpad setting option still exists as of March 2026). The vehicle used in this video is a 2021 CX-30 model.
