CNN forced to admit Democrats’ midterm blue wave is nowhere in sight

CNN data analyst Harry Enten has acknowledged Democrats are not generating the massive midterm advantage many expected. Enten pointed to polling which shows Democrats leading Republicans by just five points, far below the margins seen before previous wave elections. In 2018, Democrats held a 10-point lead before retaking the House, while their advantage reached 11 points ahead of the 2006 midterms. Now, Enten says the Democratic lead has been cut roughly in half, warning viewers not to assume a Republican defeat is inevitable. The admission marks another warning sign for Democrats as Republicans look to remain competitive heading into the 2026 midterm battle.
