3 Mark Knopfler Licks From 1979

Here's the next episode of Three-For-All with 3 Mark Knopfler Licks From 1979. I've had a lot of requests to feature some of Mark's music and playing style - so here we go! This lesson takes a look at a handful of ideas from a Dire Straits live performance from 1979 in Germany. In addition to the actual licks and phrases from the live footage, this lesson also features a number of exercises/ideas to help you gain control and begin playing fingerpicked ideas on the electric guitar. This finger-plucked sound that you'll hear in Mark's music, along with other great fingerpickers - such as Jeff Beck and Derek Trucks (to name a few) - is very expressive and produces a unique sound that you can't get from using a pick. If using a fingerpicking technique on an electric guitar is a new concept for you, you'll find plenty of fresh ideas and approaches with adapting to use this unusual performance technique.
