Fugacious - Original Composition for Big Band by Tilly Jones

Composed in 2023-2024, this piece for big band was inspired by the word 'Fugacious', meaning quick to disappear, not lasting very long. The piece opens atmospherically, with space for the guitarist to create airy, floating ambience, whilst the keys improvises sparsely, complimenting this atmosphere. This is interrupted by a strong groove at B, building on the melodies and harmonies introduced at A. The C section offers reprieve from this groove, with mysterious textures and chord progression. The main theme returns before the solo section, with space for tenor sax and guitar solos.
