President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) left the meeting convened this Friday (10) to discuss critical minerals indicating his intention to move forward with the design of a national strategy to optimize Brazil's expertise throughout the extraction, processing and refining chain in the sector. The topic had already gained momentum in recent years as it is central to the energy transition and the Artificial Intelligence revolution, but it was boosted within the government by two factors: a memorandum signed between the government of Goiás and the USA for cooperation in land exploration and the sale of the Brazilian mining company Serra Verde, based in Minaçu (GO), to an American company in April.
