In this video we spend a little time talking about our Kemimoto whip light installation on Wayne's 2025 Kawasaki Teryx KRX 4 seater. Most notably, we struggled with the cable length of the Kemimoto Universal kit. We think it was because the battery on the machine is located under the left rear seat which made it tougher to reach the front for not only the front rock lights but the control switch as well. Kemimoto was great to work with. Their team sent us extension cables right away, and everything came together just fine. We hadn’t seen much use for whip lights in the past, but that was before we’d installed them on Wayne’s machine. It sure makes it easier to see him, especially considering all of the vehicle lights get covered in mud and dirt. The whip lights stand out for sure. Overall, the installation was easy enough; although, it took some time with all of the required disassembly. The “plug-and-play” wiring made it easy to install. Like most men, we didn’t read the instructions. Thanks for the pictures though. By far the best part of the kit were the flexible spring bases and whips with the quick disconnect feature. Very solidly built. For Wayne’s machine, the universal kit may not have been his best option. He needed an additional 12’ of cable for each side. We received four 6’ extension cables. It worked, but there is that fear of a connection coming lose or its exposure to water intrusion. Vehicle specific kits may minimize the problem in that connections would be in close proximity to the individual lights. If one were to become loose, it would likely be in an area where it can be accessed. Pre-installed wire loom would be helpful particularly where the wires run through high heat areas of the machine. The wire loom may also help to keep connections from coming loose under the constant vibration, bouncing and bucking of trail riding. Something else to consider is the vehicle’s battery placement. The Kawasaki KRX four-seater’s left rear (under seat) battery limited the reach of the rear rock lights particularly the right rear rock light. The controller and main switch cable was just long enough to reach from the left rear seat to the center console. However, the length offered no ability to mount the switch anywhere except the lowest point on the console, and we weren’t able to mount the controller. That said, two additional feet of cable would certainly have been enough to accommodate rear controller mounting. We recognize, of course, front mounted controllers would need a considerable amount less cabling. With the integrated turn signal capability, we wonder if it would be a good idea to add an additional outlet on the cables for front and rear facing lights. For those considering making their machines street legal, it would be nice to have an option for an add-on kit which includes the front and rear facing lights and a horn. We’ve used other lighting systems and find the Kemimoto lights to be just as effective and well worth the price. Controlling the lighting via the Bluetooth app is a huge bonus as it takes care of the whole problem of losing the remote. The choice of lighting modes and syncing the lights to music offers more personalization for Wayne’s musical interests. Rob commented how much he liked the illumination of the rock lights; he didn’t think they were, too overpowering. Wayne didn’t tell him about the adjustable brightness.
