Fairy Tales - Jakob Owens Horror Short Film Contest 2025

In “Fairy Tales“, the VHS tape is used as a nostalgic element which sets the viewer and the protagonist back in time. Normally associated with heartwarming memories and lovely weekends at grandmas, the tape with the eerie label simply spelling “Maerchenstunde” (German for “Fairy Tales”) catches our protagonists' eye. Magical forests, beautiful fae gowns and elaborate sets all framed by noisy, grainy colourful pictures feign an innocent ambience of long-lost childhood dreams.
