Education experts and activists are warning that the sharp decline in high school maths enrolment threatens South Africa's future in science, technology and engineering. High schools are quietly facing a crisis that could shape South Africa's workforce for years to come with a sharp shift from mathematics to mathematics literacy among pupils, especially in under-resourced and township schools.
