Produced by #Oscar-winning director James #Cameron, the short film is scheduled to release in China on April 16, which marks the 109th anniversary of the Titanic's sinking. "The Six" focuses on the racism the Chinese on board the Titanic faced on the ship, on the lifeboats, and when they arrived in New York. In 1912, the Chinese exclusion act was still in force, and the Chinese survivors disappeared from the pages of history until now. I spoke with the film's director Arthur Jones to help understand how the traumatic experience of the six survivors precedes contemporary racism towards Asian Americans.
