Thunderstorms, Fan Art & a Fuel Rig Challenge — IMSA Canada Load-In Day

Well, hello everybody and welcome back to the Racing Trucker! We have made it to Canada — Canadian Tire Motorsports Park, aka Mosport — for Round 6 of the IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge. After sliding from 9th to 11th in the standings following a rough weekend at Watkins Glen, we are here for a little revenge. Load-in day turns out to be anything but simple. The paddock is packed tighter than usual, which means we're ditching the big canopy for easy-ups this weekend. Then there's a tricky fuel rig elevation problem to solve — the pit lane is about a foot lower than the paddock, so the rig needs to go way up on lumber and a floor jack just to meet the two-meter rule. We get that sorted, and then the sky opens up with a severe thunderstorm warning and we have to call it early. Oh — and in between all of that, a young fan named Carter walked up and handed me a hand-drawn piece of art with the #19 Mustang, the team logo, and "good luck" on it. I'm framing that and it's going on the wall at home. Plus, after Saturday's race I've got a tight window to get to Road America for a two-day test on Monday and Tuesday. The logistics to pull that off involve flying in one of our drivers to Buffalo, crossing the Peace Bridge, and a 10-hour break at a truck stop.
