How to paint realistic fabric folds | FULL TUTORIAL

Join Mark Waller in studio and learn how to paint realistic fabric folds! The process of painting fabric can be approached from a few different angles, but Mark has blocked in his darkest darks and lightest lights and then built up the mid-tones before coming back with the highlights in this demonstration of how to paint fabric. This is an awesome exercise involving blending techniques and dry brushing, and is a fun way to hone your gradation skills, which is an essential foundational skill for painting realism with acrylics (and painting realistically in general)! We have sped up parts of this video to keep it interesting, but you can always slow down those sections if you need :) Mark uses both Atelier Free Flow and Atelier Interactive Artists Acrylics for this demonstration. He’s using an old canvas that has already been painted with a sky gradation. So you can use any old canvas that you want! Having never really written before, he was suddenly and completely compelled to record his story by a force outside his experience and understanding. His compelling journey of discovering universal “truths”, revelling in the divine mundane and the shocking reality of living with cancer is truly emotive, enlightening and poignant.
