To celebrate its 70th anniversary, the Bärenzunft Wehr 1956 e.V. (Wehr Bear Guild 1956) kicked off the carnival season with a fantastic night parade featuring Guggenmusik (carnival brass bands). The parade started promptly at 7:11 p.m. on Saturday evening, January 24, 2026, and wound its way through the town, leading directly to the town hall for the opening ball. Numerous groups and guilds, including many colorfully dressed participants and rousing Guggenmusik bands, paraded through the streets in 59 separate groups, showcasing the full diversity of carnival. Groups from the region and neighboring towns contributed to the vibrant atmosphere and high spirits. Despite a last-minute ban on confetti due to the forecast of rain for Monday, some groups still managed to bring bags of confetti and ignored the rule. The parade participants were asked to act responsibly, as the parade route could not be cleaned until Monday. After the parade, the festivities continued directly at the town hall. A DJ and several brass bands provided entertainment well into the night. Both inside the hall and outside, carnival enthusiasts enjoyed themselves and continued the revelry with great enthusiasm. According to the police, the event and the hours that followed proceeded without incident. The night parade is a highlight of the carnival season, uniting the region in a festive mood. ...
