Item response theory - How examinee scoring works

This video provides a brief visual explanation about how item response theory (IRT) is used to score examinees on a latent ability/trait, aka theta. It does this by using the Item Response Functions. Many software systems make use of the Newton-Raphson algorithm for iteratively finding the maximum of a function, which can be less computationally intensive.
