The Glacier I Came to Photograph Has Gone
I travelled to Norway with one photograph firmly in mind: Briksdalsbreen, one of the country's most famous glaciers. When I finally arrived, the image I had planned for months was no longer there. You will see my disappointment and then subsequent elation as I find other better compositions nearby. What followed became a reminder of one of the most important lessons in landscape photography: when the plan fails, you adapt. In this video, I take you from the rolling hills and wildflowers of the English countryside to the dramatic mountains, fjords and glaciers of Norway. Along the way, I share the images I captured, including stunning mountain landscapes, a beautiful fjord scene, a woodland and mountain combination that breaks many of the "rules" I discuss in my book, and an unexpected encounter with a red squirrel in the snow. I also visit Nigardsbreen, which proved to be an even more rewarding glacier location, and demonstrate how I use DxO PureRAW 6 to improve wildlife images before editing.
