Thailand: Episode 6 (feat. Best Grilled Chicken & Khao Soi, Elephant Nature Park, Temples + markets)
Sawadee ka! ๐๐ผ๐น๐ญ Chiang Mai vlogs are here! This city was my favorite out of the 3 we visited in Thailand. The energy and vibes were just so peaceful. It has a nice balance of nature mixed with a sprinkle of city life but not so hectic like central Bangkok. This vlog was packed with such delicious and affordable food! โจ ๐ Grilled Chicken Nimman Soi 11: We had the best charcoal grilled chicken, so juicy and tender and had the perfect amount of char and seasoning paired with sticky rice. Apparently, they are also known for the chicken wings but they sold out when we went ๐ Every other dish we got was delicious too. Recommendations: Larb mu, Tomsap muu, grilled chicken of course and the Somtum. ๐ Khao Soi Maesai: This was a Michelin Guide restaurant. Sometimes I get skeptical of Michelin Guides, but this one did not disappoint. We got the Khao soi with beef and it was amazing. I would go back for this. The beef was so tender and the flavor of the broth was perfect. They had condiments on the table for you to add but it honestly didn't need anything. Small touch of fresh lime juice and it's the best! They are known for the chicken Khao soi so if I come back, I'll try that ๐ ๐๐ Elephant Nature Park: We visited an ethical elephant sanctuary. We had to do a lot of research on sanctuaries that were truly ethical. Lots of reviews recommended this one. I believe this was the best choice we made. We booked directly on their website so you can find all the information there. There are different times for tours and it also included an all vegetarian buffet with tons of options, I left very stuffed. This whole package but so worth it in my opinion. The price of the tour was a bit on the expensive side but understandably so. ๐๏ธ๐ง๐ปโโ๏ธ๐๐ผ Temples: A lot of the temples required an entry fee which was about 50-60 baht per person depending on the temple. There were also some that didn't. I appreciated the intricate designs and significance temples hold for the people there. All the temples had its own charm and meaning. We decided to just walk to most of them and there are drivers you can hire to do that as well. ๐ฅ๐ฅฅ๐ข Markets: Chiang Mai Bazaar & Waroros Market were the two main ones we visited. You could spend all night there and I was also so amazed by the street food culture in Chiang Mai. I know they exist all over Thailand but we got to experience a lot of it here. Definitely check out the Waroros Market for more affordable deals! Although both weren't so pricey, you can always try to haggle prices. ๐โ๏ธ Thrift & Cafe culture: Nimman is known for cafe culture (area we stayed) and I slowly realized that it also has a fantastic thrift culture as well, Thailand in general has a great thrift scene though. There are endless amounts of cafes and thrift stalls. One of the reasons why I loved Chiang Mai so much was because of this! I will find my way back here some day and spend a much longer time scoping all the areas in depth. Shout out to Paris House Bakery ๐ lovely owners and superb coffee & croissants, will be back! โผ๏ธ A LONG description today oopsies ๐ but a few more Thailand vlogs to go! hehe cya in the next one ๐๐ผ
